Calls go straight to voicemail on my Verizon One Talk phone

Direct answer

Turn off Do Not Disturb and make sure Call Forwarding Always is disabled. On most One Talk desk phones you can toggle DND on the phone screen, and you can turn off Call Forwarding Always by dialing **73.

When to use

  1. Your phone never rings and callers land in voicemail
  2. You can still place outgoing calls

Prerequisites

  1. Your One Talk desk phone is powered on
  2.  You know your extension or shared number

Steps

  1. Check Do Not Disturb on the phone: look for a DND icon or message on the screen and press the DND soft key to turn it off.
  2. If you also use the One Talk mobile app: open the app > Menu > Settings > Call Settings > Do Not Disturb and turn it off.
  3. Turn off Call Forwarding Always: from the affected phone, dial **73 and wait for the confirmation tones.
  4. Test: call your number from another phone to confirm it rings.

Common issues and fixes

Issue: Still going to voicemail

Fix: Make sure you used **73 for Always and not a different forwarding option. If No Answer forwarding was enabled, dial **920 to turn it off, then test again.

Issue: DND keeps re-enabling on mobile

Fix: Turn off DND in the One Talk mobile app as well as on the desk phone.
