Verizon OneTalk Network Requirements

The information below shows the ports and protocols used by the Desk phones to register, authenticate and receive service from our network.  If you have any kind of filtering device in your network, Firewalls, IDs, SBC, etc., make sure traffic on these ports is allowed. Please process these ports as trigger ports. The ports should be UDP and TCP unless noted UDP only.  


Desk Phones QoS Details

  • Default Deskphone VLAN - Default vlan is off.
  • DHCP Vlan Option code 132 is used and set by default to allow dhcp to set the VLAN dynamically  (To View on Phone click Menu>Advanced>"admin">Network>VLAN>DHCP VLAN)

  • Local IP Address - The desk phones mac address is assigned a Local IP address via DHCP unless statically assigned by the IT admin (To view IP address assigned to phone click Menu>Status)
  • QoS - Set the switch to look for packets that are marked with DiffServ value EF46
  • Sonic Wall Setup:

1. Go to the VoIP tab (or Firewall tab, depending on the device's web interface) and then VoIP. 

2. Near the top of the page, make sure Enable Consistent NAT is checked.
3. Further down on the page, make sure Enable SIP Transformations is unchecked.
4. Change  UDP timeout to 300 Seconds / 5 Minutes



Problems with dropped Calls when everything else is working correctly?

Make sure your Network Firewall/Router has UDP Timeout set 90 seconds or higher  300 Seconds / 5 Minutes is recommended but may not be needed. 
Sonic Wall and most brands Default to 30 seconds
Mikrotik Defaults to 10 seconds. 

If this doesn't resolve the issue   Please Inform PercFab,  
 Verizon will need multiple call samples.  5 minimum,
Time and date call came in  within 5 minutes accuracy.  (Required)
Phone number of Caller  (Required)
Number the Caller Dialed,  (Required)
Phone Carrier if you know it (Not Required)
any info on why you feel the call dropped (I.e put call on  hold, transferred call, any idea's or speculation why you it happened ) 


Information below is only needed if deskphones do not register to Verizon Network because local firewall is blocking ports:

Signaling:

Network Time: The URL for NTP can be delivered by the customer's DHCP server (option 42). If NTP not delivered via DHCP, the fallback is to US NIST pool of time servers.

  • Protocol: NTP, port 123
  • FQDN: 0.pool.ntp.org & time.nist.gov
  • Time Zones are set using the 911 address of record for the device.

Media (voice/video):

  • Protocol: SRTP (the key is negotiated in the SIP session which is encrypted within the TLS tunnel).
  • Protocol: SRTP, Port Range: 14536 to 65535
  • IP Addresses: 69.78.87.164, 69.78.87.165, 69.78.101.228, 69.78.101.229  
  • Default DSCP Marking Settings - RTP DSCP Value: 46 | SIP DSCP Value: 26

•       The table shows the ports and protocols used by the Desk phones to register, authenticate and receive service from our network.

•       If you have any kind of filtering device in your network, Firewalls, IDs, SBC, etc., make sure traffic on these ports is allowed.

•       During manufacturing, a URL is embedded into the device and once the phone is powered up it tries to reach that URL and initiates all signaling via the specified ports

        • TCP/UDP port 993 needs to be allowed inbound on each pc.
        • Tutorials for windows PCs to allow this
        • For customers reporting that they are getting CHAT UNAVAiLABLE on the One Talk PC Client please have them check to make sure Port 993 is configured on the PC See below: Open firewall ports in Windows 10 ! 11. ALSO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO VPNS SETUP ON THE PC THAT MIGHT CAUSE ISSUES AS WELL
        • 1. Navigate to Control Panel, System and Security and Windows Firewall.
        • 2. Select advanced settings and highlight Inbound Rules in the left pane.
        • 3. Right Click inbound Rules and select New Rule
        • 4. Add the port you need to open and click next.
        • 5. Add the protocol (TCP or UDP) and the port number into the next window and click next
      • Visual Voicemail - FQDN: v4becs-vvm.lv.imsvm.com Protocol: TCP | Port: 143
      • General Firewall Setup Recommendations:

        • Ensure required ports are not being blocked.
        • Disable SIP ALG and SIP Transformations.
        • Enable Consistent NAT.
        • Increase UDP timeout to 120 seconds or longer.
      • The phones also seem to  connect to 69.78.101.5 and 69.78.101.6 Which are apart of Verizon's IP range 69.78.0.0/16
